This award recognizes a marketing campaign that contributes to promoting Manitoba as a quality destination and demonstrates effectiveness in increasing tourism in and to Manitoba. Aboriginal Tourism is referred to as an educational culturally-based travel experience that is respectful of the ecological, cultural and economic integrity of host communities/areas. Implicit in the definition are the following principles: Aboriginal includes, First Nations, Metis, Dene, Inuit, Status and Non-status Businesses must be culturally authentic Businesses must have Aboriginal majority ownership

Eligibility Criteria
Nominations will be received from any individual, organization or business that supports or contributes to the development of the Manitoba tourism industry. Self nominations are not eligible. Nominations should be based on recent activities. As a general guideline, activities that occur up to 18 months prior to the date of nomination will be considered recent. Nomination Deadline Nominations will be accepted until 12:00 noon CST on Friday, November 30, 2007. Nomination Process Nomination forms, available from Travel Manitoba, must be typed and completed in full. Handwritten nominations will not be accepted. Multiple category nominations are accepted, but separate forms must be submitted for each category. Written acknowledgement that the nominee is aware of and accepts their nomination(s) must be received by the nomination deadline. A Nomination Acceptance Form is included at the end of this document for this purpose. While nominations can be submitted electronically, the Nomination Acceptance Form must be submitted in original hard copy or by fax. Judging Process Finalists and winners will be determined on the basis of a review and evaluation of all nominations received by the nomination deadline by a panel of Manitoba tourism industry representatives. Finalist Recognition Up to three finalists will receive a Manitoba Tourism Awards Finalist Certificate. Finalists will receive two complimentary tickets to the annual Manitoba Tourism Awards celebration event where they will be honoured by their peers.
